Standing right next to the wine cellars is the Church of Saint Cecilia, built in the Gothic style in the 13th century. Its impressive triple portal is particularly noteworthy, with clear cathedral-like features, although the decoration is understated, with the exception of the central doorway. Its tympanum depicts Christ in Majesty, surrounded by four praying figures, interpreted by some as the four evangelists and, by others, as Saint John, the Virgin Mary and two unidentified figures. The portal also has five archivolts decorated with numerous human figures.
Inside, the stark simplicity of the medieval architecture contrasts with the lavish decoration of the Baroque altarpieces that adorn it, notably the main altarpiece, presided over by Saint Cecilia, the church’s patron saint.
